The Scientific Specialist is a field based role that will report to the Area Enterprise Sales Director.  The key objective for the Scientific Specialist is to contribute expertise and knowledge transfer to field sales operations.  While not duplicating the role of the existing Ambassador or Sales Executive or Enterprise Manager; who are direct sales people supporting the territory-level general "Key Account" sales team; the Scientific Specialist will focus on the key gaps that exist in the commercial organization; as outlined in the Core Job Responsibility section below.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
  1. Support sales cycles with SME (subject matter expertise) where there is a needed focus on Oncology and/or Infectious Disease; such as the case with core m2000 or product sales cycles.  The Scientific Specialist will support the direct sales team; such as the Key Ambassador or Sales Executive or
Enterprise Manager where a higher level scientific resource is needed and added Scientific credibility is required for a large sophisticated customer.
  1. Improve reference ability and satisfaction of Our Clients largest customers.  Associated activities will include driving of local user groups; assisting in problem solving and ensuring positive peer-to-peer best practices are shared; including not only operational best practices; but also those related to clinical practice.
  2. Create and execute Scientific Sales focused field sales training programs.  Modules with certifications on product categories and around specific differentiating technologies.  The Scientific Specialist will work closely with the training department to avoid duplication of effort; but the training department does not have a dedicated Scientific trainer nor expertise in this area.
  3. Enhance Our Client's Scientific image in the market by obtaining a leadership position on at least one industry professional organization's committee or board of directors; e.g. local or regional AACC chapters. 5.  Develop Key Opinion Leaders who can drive success; leverage these relationships for road shows; peer-to-peer in-lab demonstrations; etc.
Molecular Biology degree at a minimum.  Master’s degree in life sciences and/or Ph.D. highly preferred.
Minimum of three years of in-lab experience.  Three additional years with industry experience are preferred to ease transition into a corporate environment and ensure success. Position will require 50-60% travel.
